Safe Harbor

Posted on May 10, 2014May 14, 2014 by Danielle

“A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for.”

I’ve been retreating lately. Hiding from my purpose, trying to regain my perspective, and backing up for a moment from my destiny.

The truth is, I’ve been weary.

Wearied by my limited love, my endless faults, and my obvious flaws.

Worn out by my mothering failures and holding on when I need to let. it. go.

I’m tired of emotions that get the best of me, of people who bump into my happy, and I’m tired of being tired.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.

Matthew 11:28-29

The Harbor is where we rest, refresh, and restock. It’s where God meets and restores us, and readies us for the journey ahead.

I needed some time in the harbor, and it is tempting to stay there, but God made the harbor for the ship, not ship for the harbor.

Dear Jesus,
I thank you for being my safe Harbor, and allowing me to unload and rest in You. Ready me for the journey ahead. Bless my sweet friend who delivered this timely word, all for Your glory.

In Jesus Name

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! My name is Danielle … radically redeemed and wildly loved by a Savior who’s teaching me that real is not perfect. In fact, I am learning that being real is quite messy.
