31 Days of Jesus {day 2} God Allows U-Turns

Posted on September 16, 2014September 17, 2014 by Danielle

If you’ve ever tried to lose weight, you’re probably familiar with this diet.  You know.  The one that begins “on Monday.”

Most of the 31 day series for bloggers will begin on October 1, run for 31 days, and end on October 31.

But why wait until Monday to do what you know you need to do now?  And why wait until October 1 to do a 31 day series?  31 posts that may or may not happen in 31 days, all with a focus on one specific thing …

Jesus.

Later on, after John was arrested, Jesus went into Galilee, where he preached God’s Good News.“The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

Mark 1:14-15

There is no greater message for the world than the Gospel of Christ (i.e. good news). It’s a message of hope, even if we’re in the the midst of a mess; a message that offers us a new start and the power to change.

The ‘good news’ is that we don’t have to wait until the first day of the week, or the first day of the month to run into the arms of Jesus.  We don’t have to wait until Sunday.  In fact, we don’t even have to wait.

All we have to do is repent.

For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; but worldly grief (the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [breeding and ending in death].

2 Corinthians 7:10 (AMP)

Repentance is a change of heart and a change of mind. It’s that place where we see sin as God does, form a resolve to divorce it, and rely on Him to keep us from returning to it.

“Repentance is hating what you once loved, and loving what you once hated.”

-Jim Elliff

Friends, it doesn’t matter what direction you started in today.  God allows U-turns. If you’re heading down a one way street that’s littered with sin and separating you from the Lord, today is a good day to repent.

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! My name is Danielle … radically redeemed and wildly loved by a Savior who’s teaching me that real is not perfect. In fact, I am learning that being real is quite messy.

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
