A Tuesday Treasure: He Gives Me What???

Posted on August 26, 2014August 26, 2014 by Danielle

I love that M2M has become a place for women to find encouragement … a place where we can be real … a place where we can share our stories, and a place where we can find Christ.

My Tuesday writer is no stranger to you.  She’s been here before.  In fact, she’s been here a lot, and she’s sharing a word from the Lord today as my Tuesday Treasure.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
James 1:17

It is often said that God does not give us more than we can handle; as if somehow our Daddy, giver of all good gifts, also deals out the catastrophic woe’s of our lives. Like He hands them to us saying, “My child, today I have this giant box of pain and life-altering suffering that I’ve been saving up all for you! I’ve been dying to give it to you. I just knew you could handle it.”

Seriously?

‘C R A Z Y’

God never promised that He wouldn’t give us more than we could handle, because He is not the giver of the things we cannot handle.

Every bit of suffering that you and I have experienced traces back to the fall of man and the entrance of sin into this world. God never intended for us to suffer the way that we do… but He does understand it because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

AND…

He allows it because it is in our suffering that we see Him.

We have to look up.

We get on our knees.

We cry out to our Daddy.

And we find the faith to trust and obey.

If God didn’t allow for the trials to come into our lives, be it through the sin in the garden, our own sin, or someone else’s, we would never get to see just how enormous He is! We would miss the blessings that come from our total surrender to Him.

When you are in the midst of the fire, walking through the flames, make no mistake, you are not handling anything!

The God in you is doing it all!

How incredible is that?

Our Daddy, Creator of all Mankind, Maker of Heaven and Earth, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is working in and through you and because of it… People see Jesus!!!!

Ah… I think I’ll take my humble pie with a little ice cream on top, please.

Now … Some of you out there just might be thinking … What about Job?

“The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it. Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”
Job 1:7-8

Do you really think your this guy?

Have a little slice of pie.

My point is this. As I walk through the most difficult time in my life, I have come to realize that God is completely faithful; yet at the same time, He continues to allow far more than I can handle. He didn’t cause my disaster, but He has not turned the time back and undone it or picked me up by the hand and pulled me up out of it.

What He has done is this…

He has blessed my obedience in the midst my trial more than I could ever deserve.

He has shared an intimacy with me, a wretched sinner, that is priceless.

And …

He took this light, that could have been snuffed out completely, and made it shine brighter than ever before!

“And now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”
Jude 24-25

With Love,

My Daddy’s Girl

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! My name is Danielle … radically redeemed and wildly loved by a Savior who’s teaching me that real is not perfect. In fact, I am learning that being real is quite messy.
