It is Good

Posted on August 6, 2014August 6, 2014 by Danielle

I’ve been reading through Genesis as part of my early morning devotions, and this morning, amid the hush of a sleeping household, I reread through the days of creation.

“IN THE beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 (Amp)

As I strolled through the next few verses, I was reminded of a quote I had read a few days ago while scrolling through Pinterest.

It’s evident as we read through the pages of scripture that God is creative.

“The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep.”

He took nothing and made something. In fact, it was something quite extraordinary. He made the earth, and everything in it. Seed bearing plants and the sun for photosynthesis. Water, air and light combined to provide each living thing sustenance for survival, including man, male and female. He created everything in perfect order, and when He was through…

“And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely.”
Genesis 1:31 (Amp)

Most of the time, life doesn’t make sense. There are challenges and struggles along the way that we don’t understand, and there are times when we just don’t want to. But God isn’t one for doing something with nothing in mind. Each and every detail of our life has been carefully planned out, creatively ordered with an intended purpose, just as in the days of creation. Somewhere, at His appointed time, I imagine it will end with Him saying, “It is very good.”

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! My name is Danielle … radically redeemed and wildly loved by a Savior who’s teaching me that real is not perfect. In fact, I am learning that being real is quite messy.
