Does God really expect us to be holy in an unholy world?
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:15-16
Let’s face it. It get’s harder and harder to live a holy life each day. Technology is everywhere, displaying images and sounds that lure the flesh into temptation and lead us to sin, and the devil has made what’s right look wrong, and what’s wrong look right.
For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
1 John 2:16
If God gives us a command, then he’s already provided the way for us to keep it. The Bible helps shape us for living a holy life in an unholy world, and teaches us how to live in this world, without becoming a part of it.
Lord,
Your Word says for me to be holy because You are holy. Give me the power to walk in holiness today, and overcome the temptations that are put before me. Create a love in my heart for the things that You love, and lead me to those things. Help me to be an example to others today, set apart, and used for Your glory.
