There’s only so much time in a day. It can seem downright impossible to juggle all the demands that come into our lives without feeling winded and breathless in the process.
Our hearts long to meet all the needs, and be everything to everyone.
There’s a tug of war going on, and you feel like you’re always on the rope.
It can be hard to decide who gets what part of our time, but here’s our first concern.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:33
As a wife of one and Mama to 4, my priorities are 1) my character and relationship with Jesus 2) meeting the needs of my husband and family, and 3) the outreach and ministry God has called me to. I want to be able to give each of these areas today’s manna, and not yesterday’s moldy bread. Everything else in life flows out of this number one priority. When my relationship with God is in order, everything else is in order
You may be in a different season of life, but #1 is the same for you if you’re a follower of Christ. He didn’t give us this command and not provide a way for us to fulfill it. Won’t you join me, as we pray and agree to follow God’s priorities for our lives?
Lord,
Help me to recognize and fulfill the responsibilities You’ve given me, beginning with my relationship with You. I understand that You did not call me to do everything there is to do and meet every need. May I seek first Your kingdom at the start of each day, so that I am better able to see things from Your perspective. I accept the priorities You’ve given me for this season of my life. Thank You for each of them (name your priorities and thank God for them here).
In Jesus Name
