Self Control {day 4}

Apart from God, there’s no way I can be the kind of women He’s called me to be.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23 (a)

When I finally allowed Jesus room to work in my heart and mind, He began producing a spirit of self-control like I’d never known.  I’m beginning to see that a woman who demonstrates this character trait experiences peace, joy, and fulfillment, and she makes the Gospel believable to unbelievers by being a good testimony. She also has friends, if you know what I mean.

It’s becoming harder and harder to ignore the fact that discipline and self control are missing in our culture today.  No longer is it an issue just for children –  adults are greatly lacking this virtue, too.  Join me in prayer today for our loved ones to know what self control looks like by the way we live, and for this spiritual fruit to be restored in our country.

(all scripture is taken from the NIV unless otherwise noted)

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.”

Romans 8:13

Lord, it comes as no surprise to You that we are failing in the area of discipline and self control.  I confess that there are many areas of my own life that are in need of discipline, like maintaining a healthy diet and keeping a proper schedule.  I know that I am not alone in this battle and that many of my sisters are struggling along with me.  Today more than ever, we see a need for discipline to be restored, from the White House, to the school house, to the church house.  Your Word says that if we live according to the flesh, we will die, but if by the Spirit we put to death the deeds of the body, we will live.  I pray for the power of Your Holy Spirit to be unleashed on us, and that You would help us to put to death our flesh today, that we might walk in the Spirit and live, and glorify Your great name.  Grow the spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and especially self control in us today.

In Jesus Name
